The industry was out in force early in October for the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Annual Awards, the purpose of which is to recognise all things great in terms of innovation and achievement across the Logistics and Supply Chain industry.
Great Bear was the proud sponsor of the ‘Safety Award’ at this year’s event; ‘the safety of all our staff and visitors at Great Bear is of the utmost importance and we are honoured to be associated with such a prestigious award’ commented Glenn Lindfield (CEO at Great Bear).
United Biscuits Ltd were the delighted recipients of this year’s award:
‘United Biscuits successfully demonstrated the rewards for their investment in people safety and systems of work. With three years of zero lost time accidents in the warehouse operation and sustained reductions in their overall accident frequency rate, their entry explained why the health and safety culture is held with such high regard. United Biscuits have been recognised externally by both the BSI and the British Safety Council for their efforts. Key focus in 2014 has been on manual handling, fork lift truck safety, in car distractions whilst driving and HGV versus Pedestrian and Cyclist visibility’
